Tenet Healthcare Safety Officer 40 hrs Days in Framingham, Massachusetts

• Coordinates/develops emergency operations plans and completes after action reports

• Oversees emergency operations center and related equipment, including a routine inspection/testing protocol

• Serves as liaison to Federal, State, local, and other agencies in the capacity of emergency planning

• Coordinates emergency management training/drills

• Prepares and oversees emergency management and security budgets

• Work closely and cooperatively with the hospital’s Risk Manager to assure that efforts are coordinated and not duplicated

• Coordinate and perform safety tours and rounds on a regular basis

• Observes work progress and practices, ensuring that proper safety procedures are followed and equipment is utilized

• Makes emergency management and security-related recommendations and facilitates remedial actions when necessary and appropriate, ensuring that issues are closed expeditiously

• Analyzes safety hazards and develops risk assessments

• Develops safety and security policies/procedures/plans that minimize risk to patients/employees/visitors

• Investigates safety complaints and makes recommendations for corrective action to appropriate personnel

• Chairs Emergency Management committees

• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Knowledge of

• emergency preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery

• principles, practices, and equipment related to worker safety

• principles, practices and equipment related to physical security

• typical occupational hazards in a healthcare environment

• applicable regulatory requirements

• computers (MS Office applications)

Ability to:

• develop and implement an effective hospital safety program

• assess risks/hazards/conditions and make effective recommendations for remediation

• interpret and apply regulatory requirements

• perform technical research, including data collection and statistical analysis

• prepare concise and effective written reports and correspondence

• make effective oral presentations to small and large groups

• work effectively on multi-disciplinary teams

• manage projects

Training/Education:

• equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree with coursework focused on safety, security, industrial hygiene, or related field

Experience:

• 2-4 years professional experience developing/administering safety/industrial hygiene program(s)

• experience in a hospital/health-care environment preferred

Working Conditions:

• inter-campus travel to/from MWMC hospital campuses and off-site buildings

• potential exposures to hazardous/infectious substances

Licensure:

• possesses valid Massachusetts driver’s license
