Advocates Registered Nurse Trainer in Framingham, Massachusetts


The Registered Nurse Trainer provides trainings needed to comply with DDS, DMH, and DPH requirements for MAP, MAP related, and other heath related topics.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor's Degree


  1. Provide MAP trainings and MAP recert trainings with pass rates at state average or better.

  2. Provide trainings in other MAP related topics, including vital signs, G tube, high alert medications and MAP for supervisors.

  3. Provide trainings for other health related topics to meet funder requirements, including health observation guidelines.

  4. Adapt trainings to provide access for ESL (English Second Language) and ASL (American Sign Language) learners with state average or better pass rates.

  5. Participate on agency MAP steering committee to ensure training program is meeting agency needs.

  6. Keep up to date on any MAP related changes or funder related requirements for trainings topics.

  7. Complete all documentation needed to support training completion including documentation in the learning management system and the online MAP registry database (TMU).

  8. Participate in other meetings or committees as required by the department or agency.

  9. Communicate with service departments around any attendee issues or concerns, participate in on going dialogues with service departments to ensure trainings meet customer expectations.

  10. Consult with the Communication Access Group to ensure adapted trainings for ASL staff meet all ASL standards.

  11. Attend trainings as assigned; maintains necessary certifications (CPR, MA RN, MAP trainer certifications)

  12. Adhere to all principles related to the Advocates Way.

  13. Ensure that individuals we support are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates’ Human Rights policy.

  14. Attend and actively participate in all supervisions and staff meetings.

  15. Strictly adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality at all times

  16. Attends and actively participates in supervision and staff meetings.

  17. Perform all duties in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures


  1. B.S in Nursing and must possess a current, state of MA, registration in nursing.

  2. One year of experience in a community health care setting.

  3. One year experience in teaching/training staff. Strongly prefer candidates which have experience in teaching MAP, teaching to staff where English is not their first language and/or teaching to Deaf people.

  4. Demonstrate an interest in working with the populations served by agency.

  5. Strongly prefer that a candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.

  6. Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  7. Strong computer knowledge. Ability to utilize Microsoft Office and learning management systems.

  8. Excellent organizational, time management and problem-solving skills

  9. High energy level, superior interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team atmosphere.

  10. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.

  11. Must hold a valid drivers’ license. Must have access to an operational and insured vehicle.
