Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center, Inc. Practice Manager in Framingham, Massachusetts

Summary:

Responsible to support the assigned Vice President of Operations and Medical Director by ensuring efficient and effective day-to-day operations of the assigned Health Center department by participating in the planning, directing, coordinating and/or supervising of health care services. Key member of the leadership team at the health center, collaborating with the managers of all services provided at the site. In collaboration with site leadership, responsible for overall operations of the medical department, assuring those providers, nurses, medical assistants, interpreters, and other ancillary staff provide and coordinate patient-centered care. Responsible for ongoing measurement of efficiency and performance, implementing strategies to enhance productivity through activities to improve no show rates, booking practices, workflows, and team functioning.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes the day-to-day operations of the medical department with a major focus on improving the business aspects of health care operations, productivity and revenue collection, reduction of expenses, and enhancing quality of care and the patient experience.   • In conjunction with the Medical Director and other nursing and clinical leadership, reviews templates and schedules for provider and other clinical staff sessions to meet the needs of the patient population and the practice, and works to maximize efficiency and productivity. This includes scheduling for PCPs, as well as for Urgent Care, ancillary services, and specialty providers in the medical department, as applicable to the site such as optometry, behavioral health, podiatry, nutrition, clinical pharmacy, nursing and medical specialties. Manages ramp up for new providers

  • Responsible for all scheduling functions related to specialty and ancillary providers, if applicable, including vacation requests and coverage for absences. Assures that schedules and templates are changed accordingly. Works with senior site leadership and nursing leadership to assure the availability of adequate staff to Support practice needs, with attention to effective and efficient use of resources.

  • In collaboration with other leadership staff, designs and implements systems to effectively manage the following components of the medical department operations and oversees the operations of the Front Desk

    Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in health care management, business, or related field

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in management in an ambulatory health care setting

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of health planning and clinic management sufficient to manage, direct, and coordinate the operation of a medical practice

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical background as an RN, PA, NP, MD or other clinical area

  • Experience in Community Health Centers

  • Minimum 1 year technical experience using Electronic Health Records

  • Knowledge of personnel management, patient scheduling systems, and medical office management

  • Familiarity with health insurance, health care regulations, and Joint Commission is a plus

  • Advanced degree in public health, health care management, or related field.

  • Spanish or Portuguese fluency
