Director Health and Safety
(Framingham, MA) The Director will develop and implement Sanofi’s strategic direction for Health and Safety (H&S). Assure that the business achieves compliance with all Legal and Sanofi requirements including Policies, Procedures, Standards and that performance goals for Health and Safety are met. Assure continuous health and safety improvement to meet annual improvement targets and drive the development of HSE Culture within the business is in alignment with the Sanofi HSE Road Map.
*Develop and implement the strategy to assure continuous improvement of Sanofi’s HSE Management Systems. Develop processes to allow for certification of the Company's Health and Safety Management System.
*Develop the strategy and lead the systematic reduction of Health, Safety, Environment Risks and Hazards under the HSE Management Systems.
*Lead, direct, plan, assign and delegate work on a daily basis for a team of approximately 4.
*Coordinate, administer and implement comprehensive training programs in H&S.
*Lead and lead others in incident investigations and/or root cause analysis using the Human and Organizational Factors of Safety (HOFS) process. Prepare Sanofi Learning from Experience (LEX) Reports and HSE Vigilance Reports for all serious incidents consistent with the Sanofi HSE Road Map. Lead the development, implementation and tracking of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to prevent reoccurrence of risks throughout the site.
*Participate in and lead audits including but not limited to: 3rd Party Compliance Audits, Factory Mutual Global audit, Sanofi Corporate Standards Audit, etc. for compliance and to attain/retain third party certification. Conduct safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with occupational, environmental, health and safety requirements and to encourage and create a high level of safety awareness within the organization.
*Develop and implement leading key performance indicators to drive proactive behaviors consistent with the Sanofi HSE Road Map and the unique needs of the site. Leverage leading indicators to track the progress of Safety Management on a week-by-week and month-by-month basis on the HSE+QDCI Metrics boards. Develop the strategy to drive the site safety performance using the trending of the HSE +QDCI metrics.
*Assure continuous improvement of the site's Safety Performance as measured by Incident Rates and achieve Sanofi Safety goals for employees/TPWS and Construction Workers.
*Develop, implement and maintain compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental Laws (OSHA, EPA, FDA, DEP, HHS, CDC etc.) and Company Standards, Policies, Guidelines and SOPs as measured by self, third party and regulatory inspection performance.
*Develop the strategy for supporting annual risk reviews, annual PASS Plan development and implementation, HSE training, HSE Communications and participation in routine Business and Safety Committee meetings.
- Manage the annual performance and professional development of all staff members
*Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering and 15 years’ experience of occupational health and safety OR an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
*Master’s degree in Science or Engineering and 10 Years’ experience of occupational health and safety is required.
*3 Year Full understanding of all H&S regulations/requirements for a manufacturing operation and for capital project installations is required.
- 3 years of management experience is required.
*Experience working HSE in a manufacturing and R&D environment required.
*Ability to work a flexible schedule that meets the needs of the business is required.
*Ability to gown to gain entry to manufacturing space is required.
