Advocates CMHC Addiction Psychiatrist in Framingham, Massachusetts


The CMHC Addiction Psychiatrist provides assessment, treatment and medical management to CMHC participants and oversight of medical staff.

Minimum Education Required



  • Provide medical and psychiatric service and consultation to CMHC participants.

  • Work with Medical Director and Project Director to develop and manage Integrated Treatment Teams and promote models of integrated care.

  • Participate in training and supervision on the CMHC’s identified Evidence-based practices (EBTs) and provide outpatient treatment consistent with these practices.

  • Train, oversee, and implement all CMHC EBTs, including Screen, Test, Immunize, Reduce Risk, Refer with the medical team.

  • Engage individuals in participating in other CMHC services, E.g. Peer Support, Recovery Coaching, Care Management, Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services, Social Support Opportunities, and Community Recovery Supports.

  • Provide teaching and consultation to other members of the medical team, including nursing staff.

  • Actively participates in the Quality Improvement process of the CMHC.

  • Maintain all records in accordance with the policies and procedures.

  • Practice in general accordance with the treatment philosophy of Advocates.

  • Maintain open, collaborative and collegial relationships with other team members.

  • Attend and actively participates in supervision and staff meetings.

  • Ensure that clients are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates Human Rights Policy. Adhere to all Advocates Way principles.

  • Perform all duties in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures. Follow agency Performance Standards.

  • Complete all required documentation in a timely manner.


  • MD or DO received from an accredited medical school.

  • Board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (candidates may be accepted if board eligible, if the candidate demonstrates to the satisfaction of the Medical Director comparable experience and competence).

  • Current, valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

  • Strongly prefer a candidate that will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.

  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Maintains professional liability insurance coverage of a minimum of $1,000,000/$3,000,000.

  • Current, valid and unrestricted DEA certificate.

  • Satisfactory report from the National Practitioner Data Bank.

  • Absence of Medicare/Medicaid sanctions.

  • Accessible 24 hours/day, 7 days/week or make other appropriate arrangements.

  • Currently practicing a minimum of 20 hours per week, defined as direct service, supervision, or clinical administration.

  • Commitment to Advocates values and mission.

  • High energy level, superior interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team atmosphere.

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to read and speak English. Bi/trilingual (Spanish/Portuguese) preferred.
