State of Massachusetts Registered Nurse II in Fall River, Massachusetts
Work Schedule: (40 hours) 2:45pm to 11:15pm
Days Off: Week I Sunday/Friday; Week II Monday/Saturday
The Dr. John C. Corrigan Mental Health Center Inpatient unit is a 24/7 staffed 16 bed co-ed acute inpatient unit whose mission and purpose is to work with local, state and private services providers to provide acute psychiatric assessment and person-centered treatment and services to adults age 19 and above. The unit is staffed by psychiatrists, registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPN's), unlicensed caregivers (MHWs), social workers and occupational therapists who work closely with the patient, significant others and community providers to determine needs of individuals regarding the issues of emotional, behavioral or mental health problems, taking into account the behaviors, risks, strengths, and needs of the individual. The RN II provides direct nursing care, including medication administration, admissions, and discharges, overseeing and evaluating the care delivered by LPN's and MHWs in the role of staff nurse or charge nurse. The RN II collaborates with unit clinicians and the patient to develop comprehensive treatment plans that meet patient's needs to provide person centered quality care.
Preferred Qualifications: Nursing experience in working with individuals with mental illness, substance abuse and/or other hospital settings and nursing experience in an acute psychiatric hospital setting. Given the populations served, bilingual and multi-lingual candidates are preferred.
Corrigan MHC/ Fall River Site provides comprehensive services to adults and children*. *Programs include a 16-bed acute in-patient unit, Case Management, Day Treatment Program, Community Based Flexible Support. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have at least (A) one year of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience as a registered nurse in a recognized hospital, clinic or medical facility, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
I. A Graduate degree with a major in Nursing may be substituted for the required experience .*
*Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL LEVELS IN SERIES: Current and valid registration as a professional nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
*Recent graduates from an approved school of nursing must have applied for the first available registered nurse examination.
Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license may be required.
