The Dental Assistant is responsible for various non-skilled dental tasks for patients of all ages, for the maintenance and control of non-pharmaceutical supplies and equipment and for assigned clerical activities. The Dental Assistant is supervised by a Dentist. On the job training included, no certificate needed! Essential Duties & Responsibilities Participates in direct patient care activities as directed by a Dentist. These include: All duties and responsibilities of dental assistants as outlined by the Board of Registration in Dentistry regulations manual according to level of training. Prepares for sessions and ensures all charts, equipment and x-rays are available for the provider and the patient. Facilitates efficient patient flow and workflow as directed. Follows the procedure for booking routine referrals and urgent appointments. Maintains work area in an orderly manner. Communicates effectively with children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. Actively participates in EBNHC programs and committees. Reports safety and equipment problems, malfunctions or missing equipment. Assist with clerical activities and check in and check out with patients as directed by the dental supervisor and dentists. Updates supply inventory as needed and puts away supplies to maintain par levels to meet department needs. Comply with established workflows for all laboratory cases Clean, package, sterilize contaminated equipment, and store in accordance with infection control policies and procedures as outlined by EBNHC. Properly documents all sterilization activities as required Interacts with patients or other staff in a professional and respectful manner, which reflects the needs and concerns of the individual. Consistently provides excellent customer service and makes patients feel welcome. Maintains a positive attitude. Uses communication devices appropriately. Participates in required departmental activities. Promotes a sense of ?team work? through demonstration of self-direction and self-motivation. Solves problems independently or knows when to seek consultation. Follow established EBNHC and departmental policies and procedures for operating equipment, maintenance, environmental safety, emergency response and infection control. Able to navigate dental computer software and use as directed during treatment planning and other procedures as needed. Follows clinical policies on seating and dismissing patients Reviews schedules in advance to correct any errors. Assists with forms, letters and other clinical paperwork as directed. Take appropriate xrays as directed by a dentist according to guidelines Successfully complete all aspects of their assigned role for the day Identifies and verifies patient and demographic information as directed by Departmental and EBNHC policies. Is timely and punctual when arriving at work and seating patients Understands organizational structure of Specialty Department and Dental Unit routine, and adheres to department policies and procedures (i.e., dress code, attendance, cell phone use, food at desk, etc.) Performs other duties as authorized (i.e. interpretation of demographic information etc.). Makes optimal use of standby time. Qualifications & Requirements: High School Diploma or GED Graduate from a Certified Dental Assistant program or you are eligible to apply for on the job training Previous experience in a dental or medical dept preferred Good written and verbal communication skills.
