Description:
The Coding Lead is responsible for coordinating the coding function within all practice locations in accordance with the coding guidelines established by East Boston Neighborhood Health Center (EBNHC). This includes both Facility and Professional components. In addition, the Coding Lead will serve as a key resource for team members and provide guidance and education on Compliance issues. Will perform in-house audits to ensure diagnostic and procedural codes accurately reflect patient health status in accordance with standard CPT coding and compliance regulations. Responsible for coordination of EPIC charge review work queues as well as assisting with implementing policies and procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Ensuring standards established by EBNHC related to coding staff productivity and accuracy targets are consistently met
Promoting and facilitating efficiency and effectiveness of coding related systems, including proper documentation
Ensuring timely charge capture for all services rendered
Maintain compliance with all CMS PACE Program Regulations and Standards
Assisting in the development and implementation of policies and procedures
Coordinating Coder/Provider Education and Communications
Qualifications and Requirements
AAPC Certification
RAF/HCC Coding Experience
2 years supervisory/leadership experience preferred
Experience interacting with physicians and other leadership regarding coding guidelines
Extensive knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 Coding across multiple medical specialties
Extensive knowledge of Revenue Codes, DRG Reimbursement methodologies, including familiarity with Medicare’s Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS)
Competency in navigating patient billing software and electronic medical records, preferably on the Epic platform
Extensive knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology
Knowledge of medical documentation requirements and compliance guidelines.
Strong communication, both written and verbal, as well as ability to formally present to both large and small groups
