North Coast Seafoods Outside Sales Representative, Cape Cod in Dennis, Massachusetts
Each Outside Sales Representative at North Coast is responsible for servicing and supporting a specific territory in New England.
The Outside Sales Representative will focus primarily on servicing, maintaining, growing, and deepening existing customer relationships through focused customer service approach while developing new item penetration within existing customer base. They will also work to shore up new sales leads, building relationships with potential customers to establish trust and rapport with the goal of converting them to customers.
While some of the work is easily handled remotely, a significant portion happens on the road visiting clients, meeting with your team, and connecting with new business leads throughout the assigned territory. Training for this position, as well as team meetings, happen out of our headquarters in the Boston Seaport.
You will be expected to learn and understand how the company functions as a whole and learn all about our product offerings. This will help you gain a deeper understanding of our company and help to explain the functionality and value to customers. Additionally, this knowledge will serve as a vital tool when identifying potential new customers.
This position reports directly to the HRI Sales Director.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, maintain, and interact with existing, potential, and new customer base
Handle the daily needs of customers, ensuring needs are always met
Provide excellent customer service
Work with identified potential customers to guide them through the sales process, ensuring they find a suitable product or service that helps the customer solve a problem
Perform activities such as customer menu research and cold calling to help assess the needs of new and existing customers
Maintain internal databases, recording leads, updating client contact info
Establish/maintain excellent relationships with customers within your territory
Communicate with existing customer base & book of business; making proactive sales calls to existing and potential customers, and following up on prospects and leads
Identify and qualify potential new customers within your designated territory
Understand customers’ needs and identifying sales opportunities while offering solutions and support
Identify items that our customers are buying elsewhere but not from North Coast. Identify new item opportunities within our existing customer base
Able to explain and demonstrate features & benefits of products and services
Stay informed regarding competing products and services
Other responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
3+ years’ experience in outside sales
Food service sales background a must; Seafood industry experience a plus
Sales driven, self-starter, who takes initiative and thrives in a fast-paced environment
Self-starter and detail oriented
Proficient with working from a day-to-day customer call list and having direct contact with the customer
Confident and strong self-assuredness with excellent proactive telephone calling skills
Strong prospecting, cold calling and closing skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Intermediate computer skills proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Proficient in learning computer-based processing programs that process orders and track sales data
Able to build, cultivate, and maintain customer relationships
Capable to work and collaborate well across cross-functionally teams
Motivated to achieve targeted goals and objectives
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT
- Report on relevant sales data during weekly check-ins
