Riverside Community Care Medical Records Specialist in Dedham, Massachusetts

We have an exciting opportunity for a Medical Records Specialist within our Quality Management Department to join our long-standing, growing and highly regarded organization!

We are looking for a person with great attention to detail, an unwavering commitment to privacy and confidentiality laws, experience with electronic health records, and enjoys working independently. In this vital role, the Medical Records Specialist will be part of the collaborative QM team. This role’s main responsib ility will be the fulfillment of medical record requests from our made by external parties (ex. Funders/Payers, Attorneys, Court Orders, SSI/Disability, etc.) for clients receiving services from Riverside.

The fulfillment process includes reviewing the request for compliance with confidentiality laws/regulations, extracting only the pertinent information from our electronic healthcare record, EVOLV and/or historical paper records, reviewing the clinical documentation/potential for redactions (based on releases), and securely releasing the record as appropriate.

This role also trains employees on HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and other privacy laws and conducts privacy breach investigations as needed.

Schedule: full time, flexible hours, mostly remote-work, in-person occasionally for trainings and team meetings.

Required Skills

  • Must have working knowledge of confidentiality laws; including experience with subpoenas and court orders

  • Exceptional communication skills

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to initiate and plan

  • Must be highly organized, independent, efficient, and detail-oriented

  • Valid driver’s license and regular access to a reliable vehicle

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a departmental team and the larger organization

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and data base programs

  • Ability to manage high-volume, stressful situations

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 3-5 years’ experience in Records Management, in clinical field preferred

  • 3-5 years’ experience with electronic health records
