POSITION SUMMARY
The Supplier Quality Engineer Co-op will support ABIOMED’s primary technical contacts with all US based suppliers, assist with Quality team’s supplier initiatives, nonconformance investigations and Quality Inspection alignment. This role is a key technical resource for the company’s continued growth, and is a great opportunity for someone to make a difference at one of the fastest-growing medical technology companies, focused on recovering hearts and saving lives.
This role will provide opportunities for the co-op in the areas of leadership, hands-on learning, and exposure to the MedTech field. Joining this team will also provide an introduction to the Patient’s First Abiomed culture that includes events such as Coffee Break with Leadership, volunteer opportunities, and holiday celebrations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with a diverse team of Design Engineers, Development Engineers, Quality Engineers, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, and Clinical
Provide quality engineering support in the development and manufacturing of new and existing disposable medical devices
Support MRB analysis of defective components in Incoming Inspection
Support efforts to reduce quality notifications (QN) related to supplier nonconformances
Resolve incoming inspection yield issues by driving tighter vendor process capabilities
Monitor and analyze production information to support risk management and to provide direction for corrective and preventive actions and/or process improvement activities (CAPA)
Work with manufacturing engineering and supply chain to ensure necessary process controls and validations are in place and best practices are followed (GMP)
REQUIREMENTS
Student pursuing a degree in Engineering or a related field
Familiarity with project management terms and concepts, ability to prioritize tasks is a plus
Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly, effectively and frequently
Execute tasks in a timely manner without direct supervision
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Detail-oriented, highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks
Ability to work independently as well as on a team
Must have completed three semesters in school by the start of the co-op (rising Junior or above)
Must be familiar with basic statistics concepts/terminology (If not in an engineering application- other roles are acceptable (i.e. budget management from a club, or any experience working with numbers)
Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.
The anticipated base pay for this position is between 22$ per hour and 51.50$ per hour but will be based on candidate's program year, discipline, degree and/or experience. This position is overtime eligible. Intern/Co-ops may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs such as medical insurance, sick time, holiday pay, and the Company’s consolidated retirement plan in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans. Housing stipend will be offered for those that qualify. This position is ineligible for severance.
