Specimen Collector JOB DESCRIPTION: To assist with the collection of urine specimens used to identify the presence of drugs of abuse or to monitor prescribed medication. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitate the collection, processing and transport of urine specimens. Conduct directly observed specimen collection from patients. Follow laboratory policies to correctly identify the patient before any specimen is obtained. Properly label and document the specimens and transport them to the testing laboratory. QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES: High School degree or equivalent combination of education required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Outstanding attention to detail and ability to complete the job and required paperwork with no errors. Ability to maintain confidentiality and to manage time efficiently. Ability to demonstrate customer service and compassion when interacting with patients, clients and staff. Communicate with, understand, and react effectively to a diverse patient population base. Regular and reliable attendance and dependable transportation (mileage will be reimbursed).
