State of Massachusetts Occupational Therapist Assistant in Danvers, Massachusetts

_This Position is located at Hogan Regional Center at 4HC in Danvers, MA_ The Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is dedicated to creating, in partnership with others, innovative and genuine opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to participate fully and meaningfully in, and contribute to, their communities as valued members. The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) seeks compassionate, enthusiastic and dedicated applicants for the position of Occupational Therapy Assistant. This position is an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals in this field to make a significant difference in the lives of the individuals that are supported by DDS. The Occupational Therapy Assistant will provide direct and indirect services to address the needs of the individuals supported at the Hogan Regional Center in Danvers. Duties and Responsibilities:(The duties and responsibilities stated are general summary and not all inclusive.) * Works directly with a varied caseload including individuals with violent and extreme behaviors with medical, physical, and/or cognitive challenges, in home and day supports to provide occupational therapy services under the direction of the supervising occupational therapist. * Works directly with individuals, assisting in evaluating, support planning, and implementing services for individuals; assists in fabricating adaptive equipment and in providing trainings. * Uses a variety of treatment strategies, teaching techniques, materials, and media with individuals under the supervision. * of the occupational therapist to ensure delivery of quality services. * Assures active treatment as part of the team process through assisting the occupational therapist in the development, coordination, and implementation of supports for individuals who may have the potential of violent behaviors, medical, cognitive, and/or physical needs. * Communicates and shares information with relevant people and conducts trainings with team members under the direction of the occupational therapist. * Adheres to facility, work assignment, and departmental policies and procedures as set forth in policies and procedures manuals and other pertinent documents. Qualifications Required at Hire: * Knowledge of principles of occupational therapy and terminology connected with the profession. * Knowledge of treatment methods, treatment planning, and implementation strategies used in occupational therapy. * Knowledge of principles of anatomy, physiology, human growth and development as it relates to occupational therapy. * Knowledge of occupational therapy as related to developmental disabilities and associated challenges. * Knowledge of professional ethics and ability to use sound professional judgment. * Ability to assist in the planning, selection, and implementation of occupational therapy supports. * Ability to use interpersonal skills to create and enhance the therapeutic value of supports. * Ability to ensure the health and safety of individuals. * Ability to assist in implementing behavior plans, physical restraints, time out procedures, mechanical restraints according to established protocols. * Ability to assist individuals who require physical supports by lifting, positioning, transferring in accordance with correct protocols, as needed. Agency Requirements: * Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. * Must possess current and valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Schedule Information: Monday-Friday: 7:00a.m. to 3:30p.m. Days Off: Saturday & Sunday Flexibility with work schedule will be required for this position.
