Beth Israel Lahey Health Behavioral Services provides the full range of behavioral health and addiction treatment services across the North Shore and Merrimack Valley areas.

We have opportunities for new-grad nurses (RN) on a full time, part time and per diem basis. All shifts available. This is a great position for someone who wants to make a critical impact in the lives of those who are struggling with addiction and/or mental health.

Responsibilities:

  1. Contributes to the comprehensive assessment of clients seeking services by collecting vital signs, assessing the client for signs of substance withdrawal using the Clinical Opioid Withdrawal Scale (COWS), Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment (CIWA) and the Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment for Benzodiazepines (CIWA B).

  2. Responsible and accountable for the quality of nursing care delivered, and establishes/oversees medication administration protocol.

  3. Monitors the biomedical status and conditions of all clients admitted into the facility. Administer other scales, assessments and rating scales as indicated, for instance PHQ-9, SDoH screening etc.

  4. Participates in referring clients to appropriate medical or dental services and ensures necessary aftercare linkages and appointments for ongoing medical care needs.

  5. Delivers full report on each patient each day including patient status or change.

  6. Monitors patients' compliance with medication and documents in client record as appropriate

  7. Provides instruction and training to staff as is ordered/directed/necessary.

  8. Administers TB test results and documents results.

  9. Communicates with immediate supervisor regarding client needs, changes in status, and all emergencies regarding medical or psychiatric condition.

  10. Fills physician orders, administers medication and engages in a medication reconciliation process.

  11. Conducts brief crisis counseling and individualized risk management/safety planning, provides psycho-education and coordinates medical care.

Qualifications:

  • Valid and current Massachusetts licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

  • A working knowledge of computers and the ability to complete documentation electronically is required. In addition, the ability to complete written documentation timely and effectively.

  • Demonstrate ability to relate to a substance use treatment population in a sensitive manner, an interest and willingness to work in a multicultural setting and must share a customer service orientation. Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics. Manages difficult or emotional client situations;
