Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School District Licensed Practical Nurse in Danvers, Massachusetts
Essex North Shore is looking for a 1:1 LPN for a student who has some skilled nursing needs. This is a school year position, with overtime opportunities. Hours are from 6:30am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday. The Licensed Practical Nurse ("LPN") provides students of Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School individualized nursing care, under the supervision of a Registered School Nurse. The LPN works closely with and under the careful direction of the School Nurse, who reports to the Coordinator of Athletics, Wellness and Health Services. FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT (FLSA) CLASSIFICATION: This position is classified as Non-Exempt (Classified). REPORTING STRUCTURE: The Licensed Practical Nurse reports to the Lead School Nurse and works under the direction of the Lead School Nurse and collaborates with the Health Services staff. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must possess a current, valid license as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse License issued by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing. Pediatric and/or school setting experience preferred. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent-Director may find appropriate and in conformity with state and federal law. Bilingual preferred DUTIES: Supervises a student during transportation to and from District educational spaces. Administers medication during the school day as prescribed by medical providers and per Massachusetts law 105 CMR 210 (1) under the general supervision of the school nurse-RN who has delegating authority. Provides nursing services to students, as dictated by the student’s medical provider. Provides first aid care to students who suffer and injury or illness. Assists in the maintenance of student health records, while maintaining strict confidentiality. Communicates with parents regarding student health concerns. Acts as a health resource and redirects as appropriate to other medical providers. Assists in the maintenance of medical equipment and supplies. Adheres to Massachusetts Department of Public Health standards. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Principal and/or Superintendent-Director may assign. PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: This work is performed both indoors, and outside in inclement weather. Lifting, pushing and pulling equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally heavier is required; Walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching and climbing stairs. The work requires frequent in- and out-of-district travel. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a 180-day position. The nature of this position requires hours beyond the regular school day. It is expected that the person filling this position will give priority to completing the necessary tasks and set hours accordingly. Salary and fringe benefits to be established by the Superintendent-Director in accordance with the policies established by the School Committee. " />
