Victory Human Services Home Health Aide in Dalton, Massachusetts
Home Health Aide is responsible for performing personal care services, simple dressing changes that do not require the skills of a registered or licensed nurse, assistance with medications that are ordinarily self-administered and do not require the skills of a registered or licensed nurse, assistance with activities that are directly supportive of skilled therapy services and routine care of prosthetic and orthotic devices. Must have either a: Certificate of Home Health Aide Training; OR Certificate of Certified Nurse's Aide Training Must have high school diploma or GED and be 18 years or older. Must have at least one year working experience in Human Services or Health field. All applicants must be able to pass a criminal background check under state regulations. Pass driver check and maintain good driver's record. Must have a current CPR & First Aid certification. Maintain a current negative Health Card or chest x-ray (TB skin test). Have strong communication skills to effectively communicate and interact with diverse populations including; families, customers, team members and the public. Have a sympathetic attitude toward the care of the sick and elderly. Maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job. Must have a reliable vehicle. Performs only under the supervision of an RN or Therapist with current license by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing. - Performs total care or assists clients in all activities of daily living and personal hygiene such as, but not limited to, bathing, grooming, linen changes, and personal laundry. - Assists clients with transfers, ambulation, assigned exercises, and toileting, including the use of a bedpan or commode. - Prepares nutritious meals within the client's diet and assists with eating when necessary. - Performs light housekeeping chores, which facilitates client self-care in the home setting. - Answers client's calls and attends to the client's requests promptly. - Meets the safety needs of the client and uses adaptive equipment safely and appropriately. - Observes client's general condition, takes and records accurately vital signs, and reports changes promptly to the nurse. - Attend appointments with client. - Perform shopping and other errands as assigned for or with client. Accurately documents dates, visits, and completed tasks and carries out all requested assignments. - Reminds and assists patients in taking medications that are ordinarily self-administered. - Recognizes emergencies and utilizes emergency procedures. - Submits paperwork in a timely manner according to agency policy and procedure.
