Job Summary
Under general supervision and reporting to the Coding Manager, the Clinical Coding Specialist II codes hospital services to include, but not limited to, Inpatient, SDC, Radiology, Mammograms, and Minor Treatment Room encounters using International Classification of Disease 10 - Clinical Modifications (ICD-10CM) and Current Procedure Terminology (CPT) coding methodology in accordance with official coding and reimbursement guidelines. Abstracts all data elements into the Meditech hospital-wide computer system for billing and statistical purposes. Maintains current working knowledge with all coding rules and regulations in accordance with the hospital coding compliance policy and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
§ Education: o High School diploma or equivalent.o Associate or bachelor degree in an AHIMA approved program in HIT preferred
§ Experience:
o Previous experience in Medical Records.
o Medical coding certification and at least two years of ICD-9CM and CPT coding experience.
§ Licensure and/or Certification: AHIMA or AAPC Coding Certification required.
