City of Chicopee Pandemic Response Lead Nurse in Chicopee, Massachusetts

Job Title: Pandemic Response Lead Nurse Department: Human Resources ? Department of Occupational Health & Safety Status: Non Union (Part-Time & Full-Time); Temporary Salary: $50/Hour SUMMARY The Pandemic Response Lead Nurse will be responsible for assisting with the management of the day-to-day operation of the Covid-19 vaccination site within city limits, in accordance with local, state and CDC guidelines. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE - Oversee daily setup and break-down of wellness/immunization clinics. Transporting vaccine(s) and sharps - Oversee daily completion of immunization consent forms - Proficient in intramuscular injection technique and subcutaneous injection technique - Administer vaccines (per manufacturer instructions), and educates clients and caregivers about age specific immunizations, precautions/contraindications and possible adverse reactions - Transport of vaccine(s) and maintaining the cold chain - Proper biohazardous waste transport and disposal - Maintain appropriate infection control standards and precautions - Maintain compliance with wellness specific policies and procedures - Emergency management i.e., adverse reactions, anaphylaxis. Administration of epinephrine per physician order - Reporting of incidents and/or injuries/needle sticks - Proper biohazardous waste process/protocols - Proper utilization of PPE - Responsible for vaccination inventory, management and reporting to DPH - Responsible for other duties and tasks as required SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION This is a non-exempt, temporary position with part-time and full-time hours available. The schedule of the vaccine site is during standard business hours, approximately 40 hours per week, requiring flexibility per the needs of the operation, the City, as well as emergency situations. The Pandemic Response Nurse has a salary of $50.00 per hour.
