Commonwealth of Mass, Exec Economic Dev Clinical Staff Development Coordinator in Chelsea, Massachusetts

The Soldiers' Home in Chelsea is seeking an experienced and dynamic Registered Nurse IV to function in the role of Clinical Staff Development Coordinator. The Clinical Staff Development Coordinator ensures that employees are trained to provide optimal care to the veterans of the Soldiers' Home through instruction and demonstration of patient care. Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): Provide nursing care to veteran adult and geriatric patients by assessing their health status, recording related health data, evaluating their unique physical, psychosocial and age-specific needs and adjusting care in collaboration with other health care providers. Demonstrate effective problem solving utilizing nursing judgment and interpersonal skills to promote a professional, safe and productive environment. Instruct staff, addresses and resolves conflicts and issues so that patient care and staff morale are not jeopardized. Support bilingual staff by delivering training in Spanish and English when needed. Address and report patient complaints of safety hazards, damaged equipment and reports to appropriate personnel with follow up. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of all unit activities by observing staff competence to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Communicate with nursing and other departments and disseminates information through staff meetings, memos, inter-shift reports, etc., to ensure continuity of safe, quality patient care. Serve on committees such as Infection Control, Continuous Quality Improvement, Staff Development, patient education, etc. Provide structured orientation for new employees; ongoing in-service education programs to maintain staff current in nursing trends, policies, procedures and equipment; and evaluate job competencies for all level of staff. Coordinate CPR classes for all agency staff. Participate in educational and professional activities to maintain current in nursing trends, administrative and leadership skills, and to maintain licensure. Participate in outside committees to enhance knowledge and shares information with administration, i.e., HRD and CSD educational development committees, MassPro projects, etc. Actively participates in recruitment of new employees by attending workshops and recruitment programs ongoing. Schedule: Monday through Friday Day Shift with availability to train across all three shifts as needed; including occasional weekend work. Emergency - This position has been deemed as an Emergency personnel position. During a delared State of Emergency and in Non-Emergency situations/adverse weather, it will be necessary to report to work. Required Qualifications: Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of standard nursing policies, procedures, methods and techniques. Ability to understand and apply the laws, rules and regulations governing agency operations and assigned unit activities. Ability to problem solve; to counsel staff and initiate.
