Summary
The Spaulding Outpatient Informatics Lead is responsible for leading, participating in, and moderating the development, standardization, coordination, and maintenance of clinical and revenue cycle content for the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network (SR). In this role, the incumbent will, in concert with MGB Digital and SR informatics staff, facilitate and lead business and workflow analysis and adaptation related to system content, and act as a leader and catalyst for system and workflow optimization and standardization across SR. Additionally, this role serves as an SR Subject Matter Expert, liaison and advocate on various SR and MGB committees and councils within their area(s) of expertise.
The Outpatient (OP) Informatics Lead will
Be the leader and central point of contact for clinical and revenue cycle disciplines throughout SR for integrating understanding of organizational policies/standards; clinical experience and knowledge of EMR and other Clinical Information Systems (CIS
) to support and improve patient care clinical workflow and related processes throughout SR.
Collaborate with both Network and local SR Informatics Specialists, MGB Digital CBAs (Clinical Business Analysts), Clinical and Digital Leadership and other stakeholders to achieve a high degree of workflow process standardization and staff competency in the administration of safe, compliant care utilizing Clinical Information Systems (CIS)
.
Identify, collect, and process data to support and improve end users’ clinical practice; manage and report findings to administration and help to integrate into staff education; and serve as an extension of the information systems department, collaborating on CIS
issues that impact clinical practice.
Collaborate with key stakeholders and coordinate activities across Subject Matter Experts (SME), as new applications and workflows are developed, tested and implemented.
Act as a subject matter expert and liaison between SR Clinical and Digital Leadership and MGB eCare (DHeC) Application Teams, Committees, and Councils
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a point of contact / support for clinicians at SR OP site(s) on EMR and other CIS
system functionality.
Acts as a liaison between site clinical and revenue cycle departments for CIS
related issues and workflow needs
Collaborate with SR Digital Clinical Business Analyst (CBA) and Local Informatics Leads to troubleshoot complex issues; and participate in developing and implementing solutions.
Assists with coordinating and engaging clinical and revenue cycle groups, including physicians, front desk, and other health professionals and operational leaders to ensure that CIS
clinical content meets functional, workflow, safety, regulatory and process requirements
Participate in CIS
data/analytics analyses including report identification, scoping and recommendations.
Provide CIS
expertise in quality reviews (ex/ SOR and RL Solution investigations) accreditation surveys, and DPH/regulatory audits and investigations
Identify and report CIS
workflow and functionality findings into site-based and SR-wide collaborative / governance groups to support process improvement and standardization strategies.
Provides leadership in the development of best practices that promote the consistent adoption of CIS
workflows into practice; acting as a change agent and change manager
Support process for Epic application enhancement requests to DHeC to ensure EMR meets clinical needs of the site and levels of care.
Utilize knowledge and skills of clinical practice to understand clinical workflow, how they relate to electronic applications, and how to optimize the application of workflow/system functionality.
Perform CIS
system testing to ensure systems meet implementation goals.
Participate as subject matter expert and advocate for SR on DHeC Enterprise Expert Panels, Clinical Content Groups, etc.
Provides subject matter expertise to inform optimal CIS
clinical content development and maintenance.
Understand and educate staff as needed on CIS
use, minor software updates and major software upgrades.
Participates in performance improvement initiatives as related to CIS
.
Travel as needed to fulfill Clinical Informatics needs SR.
Additional department, organization, or SR activities are completed per established objectives.
Performs other duties as assigned.
CIS = Clinical Information Systems, including Epic, eCare complementary applications, and site-owned Clinical Information Systems
Qualifications
Experience
Required
At least 3 years’ experience in a rehabilitation setting required
At least 3 years’ experience working with an EMR
- Experience with balancing multiple projects and project teams
Preferred
Advanced proficiency with Epic and other core information systems
Practicing clinician or similar clinical role desired
Understanding of clinical operations and related business processes
Knowledge of clinical care processes across disciplines and across the care continuum
- Previous experience in supporting IT projects, initiatives, and strategies.
Licensure
Required
- Current clinical licensure
Skills (Specific learned activity gained through training (e.g. computer skills, keyboarding, presentation, etc.)
Required
High proficiency with standard office technologies and software, with demonstrated ability to learn new software.
High proficiency with use of electronic medical records.
Excellent communication skills including strong verbal and interpersonal skills to contribute as a member of a team.
