State of Massachusetts Recreation Coordinator (Program Coordinator III) in Canton, Massachusetts

Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children (PRHC), operated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), is seeking an experienced Recreation Coordinator. The Recreation Coordinator supervises daytime, evening and weekend recreation, community programs and summer programs, as well as recreation, intern, and volunteer staff. The incumbent in this role assists the Director of Recreation in managing the Recreation Department. The Recreation Coordinator organizes, plans, and schedules group activities both on and off campus, oversees the Therapeutic Summer Program, creates, and maintains community contacts for recreational opportunities for PRHC patients and provides training and supervision for contract part-time staff. Please Note: This position is 40 hours per week, 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. The days off are Sunday and Monday. Duties and Responsibilities: (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive) * _Supervise Recreational Therapist III and Recreational Therapist I staff, identifying and encouraging growth opportunities. * Assess program offerings and evaluate effectiveness, quality, and areas of improvement. * Evaluate staff performance on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis as part of the Employee Performance Review System (EPRS) procedure, providing opportunities to grow as professionals. * Supervise community use of the PRHC facilities and equipment. * Assess appropriate community partnerships for patient access and recreational pursuits. * Participate in Performance Improvement Program. * Review documentation to ensure timely completion and assess progress, effectiveness and makes recommendations for improvements. Required Qualifications: * Able to exercise leadership in group and individual situations. * Must know the factors, trends, and problems in providing recreation services to special client groups. * Know safety practices and procedures followed in general recreation activities. * Must be able to prepare general reports. * Ability to maintain accurate records.
