The Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children (PRHC), operated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), seeks a skilled and detail-oriented Adaptive Equipment Technician I. This position is responsible for assembling, cleaning, disinfecting, maintaining, and repairing adaptive equipment used by patients at PRHC. The role also supports the maintenance and cleanliness of equipment across multiple rehabilitation departments and assists in creating custom adaptive devices to enhance patient care and functionality. Please Note:The hours for this position are Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30pm, and the days off are Saturday & Sunday. Duties and Responsibilities *(These duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): * Perform comprehensive cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of therapeutic adaptive equipment, including wheelchairs, trays, seating components, and other patient-related devices. * Disassemble and reassemble equipment for thorough cleaning and ensure all repairs are completed promptly and accurately. * Maintain an accurate inventory and record of all cleaning, maintenance, and repair operations. * Fabricate, modify, and repair adaptive equipment based on designs or patient needs. * Support rehabilitation departments (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and others) in maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of their equipment. * Collaborate with the Adaptive Equipment Designers and other team members to ensure proper upkeep and safe usage of equipment. * Assist in patient fittings, equipment setup, and troubleshooting as needed. * Monitor and maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment in compliance with safety guidelines and regulations. * Attend departmental meetings, training sessions, and continuing education to stay updated on the latest techniques and equipment. *Required Qualifications * At least one year of full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience in the fabrication, alteration, and repair of adaptive equipment, or an equivalent combination of experience and education. * Knowledge of the methods, tools, equipment, and materials used in creating and repairing adaptive devices. * Ability to follow written instructions and maintain accurate records. * Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity. * Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Preferred Qualifications * Training or certification in orthopedics or prosthetics is highly desirable. * Experience working with individuals with physical disabilities. * Familiarity with techniques for measuring and fitting adaptive equipment. * Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, safety standards, and infection control protocols. /_Agency Mission:_/ Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children (PRHC) located in Canton, MA is a Joint Commission Accredited, 90 bed pediatric hospital predominately serving children and young adults (ages 8–22) operated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
