TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Mechanical Engineering-Photovoltaic Research Laboratory (MIT PV Lab), to perform mechanical and chemical engineering duties on device fabrication, structural and optoelectronic characterization, and performance testing. Responsibilities will include working with MIT PV Lab researchers in fabricating solar devices, designing process optimization, and overseeing the lab’s fabrication facilities; conducting experiments including substrate preparation, liquid synthesis, and metallization; performing operational tests and sample screening using a spin-coating thin-film deposition technique based on established protocols and participating in modifications of protocols; translating the deposition recipes developed for device fabrication into a prototype that is scalable; performing structural, optical, and electrical characterizations of thin-film samples and solar devices such as UV-visible spectroscopy and current-voltage characteristic measurement; and managing and supervising the use of the glovebox and fume hood in the lab.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, materials science, physics, chemistry, or a related technical field; and at least two years of experience in a research laboratory environment operating experimental equipment. Seek a mission-oriented problem-solver who is able to perform hands-on laboratory-based research efficiently. Knowledge in synthetic chemistry is desired.
