RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE (IMMUNOTHERAPY), Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research (https://ki.mit.edu) -Irvine Lab (multiple postions), to assume a role in nucleic acid engineering, cell culture, and animal research in support of ongoing cancer immunotherapy and possibly HIV vaccine projects as part of the Irvine Lab (http://irvine-lab.mit.edu) . Responsibilities will primarily include supporting cancer immunotherapy studies in mice, including animal handling, injections, tumor monitoring, necropsies, and flow cytometry sample preparation. Efforts may also include helping with synthesis of vaccine nanoparticles for studies in the laboratory and characterization of these materials; and the cloning and testing of RNA-based vaccines, mammalian cell culture, protein expression, and purification and protein blots. Significant contributions will be appropriately recognized by authorship on subsequent publications.
REQUIRED: high school diploma; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; comfort working with animals and analyzing, summarizing, and reporting results to researchers; demonstrated commitment to exceeding quality standards, providing exceptional services, and producing accurate and high-quality work; meticulous attention to detail; practiced documentation skills; and an awareness of basic safety issues and the ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment. PREFERRED: undergraduate degree in immunology, biological sciences, biochemistry, bioengineering, or related area; exposure to a research lab; and experience with murine animal models or fields related to immunology.
