Sanofi Group Occupational Health Nurse in Cambridge, Massachusetts

JOB SUMMARY:

The Occupational Health Nurse will provide critical clinical support to the R&D and Manufacturing operations to their assigned sites delivering the occupational health services needed to meet or exceed regulatory compliance and company guidelines. The right candidate will be instrumental in implementing and delivering occupational health programs to workers in order to achieve a healthy and safe work environment.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Workers Compensation injury and illness evaluation (within scope of practice), first aid treatment, referral as needed, initiate W/C claim, and case management for sites as assigned

  • Clinical services at Occupational Health Center (s), sites as assigned (within scope of practice) including but not limited to physical examination such as post hire and regular medical surveillance

  • Deliver as appropriate all medical surveillance programs in compliance with Federal requirements and Company guidelines, including but not limited to: Laboratory Animal Allergy, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Powered Industrial Vehicle, Reproductive Risk Assessment, BBP, flu and any other surveillances needed based on risk assessments

  • Maintain all medical information in compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and company guidelines

  • Work closely with HSE on Industrial Hygiene data interpretation as related to surveillance programs/PPE determination; medical recommendations in work risk assessments; work-related injuries and illnesses prevention; accommodations and return to work

  • Work with site managers and HR about work accommodations, return to work, EAP, fit for duty evaluations, ADA issues, etc.

  • Assist with crisis intervention and employee support including referrals to appropriate resources

  • Manage the MERT (Medical Emergency Response Team) to include ongoing training activities, Hepatitis B immunizations and AEDs for sites as assigned

  • Respond to medical emergencies on site during business hours

  • Support all wellness initiatives on site

  • Assist in accident investigation to ensure completion of all action items related to the health of the employee and identify any trends for proactive implementation of preventative initiatives

  • Utilize nursing knowledge, problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills to assess medical surveillance documentation, trending and identifying any early areas of concern

  • Maintain the supplies and equipment of the site Health Centers as assigned

  • Manage OH issues remotely when appropriate and required

  • Provide Travel Consultations to employees

  • Maintain calibration logs of equipment, monthly medication checks, monthly AED/first aid bag checks

Requirements and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university

  • Area of specialization: Nursing

  • RN without occupational health experience will be considered based on their nursing background, skills, and clinical experience

  • RN without BSN will be considered if more than 3 years’ experience in Occupational Health and/or appropriate and relevant clinical skills and experience

  • 3 years of experience in Occupational Health

  • CPR/AED certified

  • Registered Nurse unrestricted nursing license in MA

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Occupational Health Certification preferred or ability to obtain within 2-3 years of hire

  • Strong clinical assessment skills and comfort working autonomously

  • Knowledge of EAP, OSHA, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA

  • Experience in Biosafety preferred

  • Spirometry experience preferred

  • CAOHC audiometric certification preferred

  • Phlebotomy and medication administration experience preferred

  • Hearing Conservation experience/certification preferred

  • Phlebotomy experience preferred

  • Case management experience preferred

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient computer skills

  • Must have flexibility in hours and ability to travel to different sites
