Maxim Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Registered Nurse specializing in Obstetrics. The RN OB assumes responsibility and accountability for theapplication of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care for obstetric patients. Thenurse demonstrates ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner withsupervision. The nurse demonstrates critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care.Consistently performs according to nursing standards and is accountable in managing patient care andassisting others in the management of patient care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluatepatient care.

  • Assess signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psycho-socialchanges in the patient’s condition.

  • Collects, analyzes and interprets data and information from health caremembers and documents actual and/or potential nursing diagnoses.

  • Perform admitting assessments, review history and develop plan of care.Initiate fetal heart monitor,

  • perform vaginal exams, interpret fetal heart tones and determinefrequency duration and intensity of

  • contractions.

  • Monitor progress of laboring mothers, interpret fetal heart monitor andnotify physician when appropriate for progress or problems.

  • Plans for expected outcomes of care for those patients assigned.

  • Performs interventions according to identified priorities, plan ofcare, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standard.

  • Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patient environment.

  • Compares expected and actual outcomes of care and identifies deviationfrom the plan of care.

  • Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient careneeds and assigned unit/floor including establishing priorities.

  • Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment.

  • Promotes interpersonal relations with patients/family/significantothers; hospital healthcare co-workers; and physicians.

  • At the hospital, analyzes, interprets, and incorporates informationfrom other health care members.

  • Uses effective communication skills with all contacts while beingobjective and sensitive.

  • Communicates pertinent information about patient, nursing unit, andactivities as appropriate.

  • Represents Maxim in the hospital setting in a positive image.

  • After accepting a Maxim hospital assignment, arrives at the hospital ontime, before the scheduled shift

  • starts to sign-in at the nursing office and report to the floor/unitfor orientation and/or report.

  • Work assignments are completed during the assigned shift unless thehospital supervisor approves

  • overtime.

  • Dress/attire worn to the hospital is clean, professional, andappropriate for the clinical area assigned.

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current Registered Nurse license within the state of practice.

  • Minimum one year obstetrics experience preferred.

  • Minimum of one year acute care experience within the last three yearspreferred.

  • Current BLS card

  • Current health certificate (if applicable)

  • Current PPD of chest-x-ray.

  • Successful completion of testing process.

  • Full command of the English language, both verbal and written.

  • Demonstrate good interpersonal communication skills.

  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively use the nursing process.
