Job Description
LAB COORDINATOR, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Stark Lab, to play a crucial role in facilitating groundbreaking research programs on cancer immunology and immunotherapy by supporting, developing, and contributing to research projects that involve approaches from molecular and synthetic biology, immunology, glycobiology, and biological engineering. Will also oversee daily laboratory operations, including maintaining lab supplies, organizing lab spaces, and ensuring safety compliance. Responsibilities include managing budget, facilities, and protocols for animal research and laboratory safety; developing processes to improve laboratory operations; troubleshooting and developing solutions to issues in the lab; overseeing resource allocation for general supplies according to proposed budgets, maintaining records on individual lab members’ spending, and working with MIT financial administrators; managing the laboratory facility, including procuring and maintaining equipment, inventory, and supplies; preparing shared reagents; facilitating laboratory clean-ups and inspections; managing vendor relationships and service contracts; lab safety management; managing lab website, servers, software/licenses, data storage, and workstations; and performing other duties as required. Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in a related scientific field; four years’ experience working in a research laboratory; experience with management of animal colonies and research protocols; strong interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational, time management, planning, and oral and written communication skills; ability to promote collaboration/cooperation as part of a diverse team of graduate students/postdocs/research staff; budget project management experience; and proficiency with Microsoft Office. PREFERRED: MIT or other academic laboratory operations experience; advanced degree in molecular biology, immunology, biological engineering, or related field; and experience with/willingness to learn new laboratory management software.
