responsibilities:

This new role will reside in the Therapeutic Area of Infectious Diseases, which includes the functions of Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, and Epidemiology. The Director of Medical Information will drive the development, implementation, and execution of Medical Information content and services at the company, initially with the launch of a novel coronavirus vaccine. The successful candidate will be responsible for the oversight of Medical Information activities including building of the Medical Information services/team, leading cross-functional planning and implementation of Medical Information deliverables, development of medical content for healthcare professionals and consumers, and oversight of vendor services, including implementation and tracking of metrics and KPIs. S/He has a collaborative mindset and partners with stakeholders and cross-functional partners to successfully help develop and monitor the company's Medical Information strategy and objectives. This position will initially focus on Medical Information for the US market, but will grow to include the international markets over time.

  • Strategic development, implementation, and execution of Medical Information content and services including development of an overall strategic and operational plan with the vendor responsible for the Medical Information call center.

  • Training of the call center personnel

  • Develop the build-out of the Medical Information function at the company, beginning with the launch of a novel coronavirus.

  • Establish policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance for the provision of Medical Information services to healthcare professionals and consumers, collaborating cross-functionally to align appropriate corresponding SOP(s)/guidance(s).

  • Develop and oversee generation of timely, accurate, thorough and balanced responses to unsolicited requests for information about products from healthcare professionals and consumers consistent with regulatory guidelines utilizing appropriate information resources.

  • Develop and update Medical Information standard responses with new publications, congress data, and clinical trial information.

  • Oversight of the vendor to implementation of a medical information call center structure, including the development, execution, and tracking of metrics and KPIs.

  • Participate as SME ad hoc on cross-functional committees.

  • Remain current on relevant medical/scientific therapeutic areas of interest to the company.

  • Participate in regulatory inspections and internal audits.

  • Liaison with financial / project management for budget planning.

qualifications:

  • Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) with at least 6 years of biotech and/or pharmaceutical industry; medical information/medical communication experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.

  • Strong understanding of and adherence to regulatory policies governing scientific interactions with HCPs and patients.

  • Ability to synthesize scientific information for healthcare providers and consumers.

  • Prior industry experience in post-marketing setting; vaccine/infectious disease therapeutic area experience and knowledge strongly preferred

  • Skilled at working effectively in a collaborative team environment where results are achieved through influence and the incorporation of multiple points of view

  • Independently motivated, detail oriented and strong problem-solving ability

  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
