Job Description:

Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA)

Lahey Hospital and Medical Center

Surgical Critical Care

Join our team in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, a nationally recognized 345 bed tertiary care hospital located in the northern suburbs of Boston, MA. Our SICU team consists of 12 Advanced Practitioners, 14 Attending Intensivists and rotating surgical and anesthesia residents.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Caringfor critically ill surgical patients in a 24-bed surgical ICU at a Level 1 Trauma Center. The patient population includes adult patients admitted with trauma, postoperative organ transplantation, neurosurgical procedures, vascular surgical procedures, cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures.

  • Providing direct care of patients assigned to them, either in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit or the Cardiothoracic Surgical ICU, with a high level of autonomy.

  • Managing complex surgical patients, ventilator management, resuscitation, hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical circulatory support and the use of vasopressors or inotropes.

  • Placing and managing invasive monitoring lines, including arterial and central lines.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates should have at least 2 years of prior experience in Critical Care, Emergency Medicine or Cardiothoracic Surgery. ‘

  • APPs who have completed a postgraduate Critical Care fellowship will also be considered. This position is not open to new graduate APPs

The position includes rotation to nights and weekends.
