Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager/Tertiary Team Leader, the Staff Registered Nurse: Tertiary Care practices within the Lahey Clinic Professional Practice Model, MA Nurse Practice Act, ANA Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics and demonstrates Lahey Clinic’s core values that reflect its Mission. The nurse-patient/family relationship, continuity of care and accountability are central to the delivery of individualized high quality patient care.
A Staff Registered Nurse: Tertiary Care demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide expected standards of care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, spiritual, safety and age-appropriate considerations of patients.
The Staff Registered Nurse: Tertiary Care, in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act of Massachusetts Rules & Regulations- 244 CMR 3.0, shall bear full and ultimate responsibility for the quality of nursing care he/she provides to individuals and groups. Included in such responsibility are health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning and restoration of optimal functioning and comfort or for the dignified death of those they serve.
The Staff Registered Nurse: Tertiary Care assumes the responsibility for the plan of care and has the authority to make decisions and is held accountable for decisions specific to assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the plan. The registered nurse facilitates the coordination of care across the continuum and demonstrates safe practice within the domains of:
• Clinical judgment and decision making
• Professional Relationships
• Clinical leadership
• Clinical scholarship
A responsibility and function of the Staff Registered Nurse: Tertiary Care includes Delegation & Supervision in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act of Massachusetts Rules & Regulations- 244 CMR 3.0 Registered Nurse and Licensed Practical Nurse: Board of Registration in Nursing and the ANA Principles of Delegation. The delegating registered nurse at Lahey Clinic bears the full and ultimate responsibility that includes but is not limited to:
• Making an appropriate assignment
• Properly and adequately teaching, directing and supervising the delegate
• The outcome of the delegation
Lahey Hospital and Medical Center is now offering up to a $5,000 in signing bonuses for our Medical Surgical RN positions. Medical Surgical RN position must be licensed with at least one (1) year of RN experience to be eligible for the signing bonus.
Important Details:
• Signing Bonuses are paid out in three payments. You will receive your first payment (one third of the total amount) upon completion of the first 30 days of employment. You will receive the second payment upon completion of six (6) months and the third payment (final of the total amount) owe upon completion of one year following your start date. The bonus payments will be paid on the next regular pay day following the date on which you become eligible for the bonus. All payments are subject to applicable taxes.
• Full time status at LHMC is considered for the schedules greater than or equal to 30 hours per week; part-time is 20-29 hours per week. Roles less than Full-Time will be prorated. Please note, per diem employees are not eligible for the signing bonus.
To be eligible:
• Current and former BILH candidates - restrictions apply. Employees within the BILH system are not eligible for the bonus or if you have been employed by a BILH entity within the last 12-months.
• If you leave Lahey Hospital & Medical Center before your first anniversary you will pay back the signing bonus.
• Please note, signing bonuses are subject to change based on the organizations hiring needs and will be determined by Talent Acquisition on an ongoing basis. BILH/LHMC Talent Acquisition reserves the right to change signing bonus eligible jobs and amounts at any time.
Job Description:
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a 2-4 year state approved and/or accredited School of Nursing
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and technical knowledge to provide care for patients according to Nursing Policy and Procedures. See Skill Record.
Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and knowledge to provide care for patients according to the clinic specific competencies.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BSN preferred and/or ASN Degree Requirements
At least 1 year of previous of Nursing experience in acute care or sub-acute setting required
Current Massachusetts registered Nurse License required.
Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification required
Demonstrate critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills
Lifting 75 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs
