The Per Diem position on the Medical Surgical and Progressive Care Cardiac 6 East Floor.

6 East is a 30-bed, blended acuity unit specializing in the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery patient populations. The unit is comprised of 6 Progressive Care beds and 24 telemetry beds. With a vision of healing hearts without skipping a beat, our team provides exceptional care to patients with a variety of cardiac, pulmonary, and vascular conditions. This population of patients includes pre and post CABG, Heart Valve surgery, Septal Myectomy, Aneurysm Repair, Thoracotomy, Femoral-Popliteal bypass and other acute cardiothoracic and vascular conditions. Our team includes a great group of Heathcare professionals committed to the delivery of safe, high-quality care to our patients.

6 East offers a unique pathway for those nurses who are interested in professional growth and progressing their career. The pathway offers opportunity for growth within the procedural and surgical areas. Our unit has a close relationship with the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit, and we prepare our nurses for a seamless transition into the intensive care setting, should this be the path they choose.



Per Diem Requirements:

24 Hours in a 4-Week Schedule; 16 of those hours need to be Weekend (Saturday or Sunday).

Education: 

Graduate of a 2-4 year state approved and/or accredited School of Nursing 

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: 

a. Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and technical knowledge to provide care for patients according to Nursing Policy and Procedures. See Skill Record. 

b. Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and knowledge to provide care for patients according to the clinic specific competencies. 

c. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. 

Qualifications:

BSN preferred 

At least 1 year of previous of Nursing experience in acute care or sub-acute setting required 

Current Massachusetts registered Nurse license required. 

Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification required 

Demonstrate critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills 

Lifting 75 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs
