Brockton Hospital Transport Aide in Brockton, Massachusetts

Transporting of patients to various departments via wheelchair or stretcher. Providing all necessary paperwork and charts as required, and cleaning of vehicles. Ability to read and write the english language. American Heart Association CPR certification required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport patients between nursing units, diagnostic areas, doctors’ suites, and other areas of the hospital

  • Determines patient name, destination, mode of travel, time and other relevant data, following notification from the Patient Tracking Systems or the Service Response Center

  • Transport blood and other specimens on both a STAT and routine basis

  • Reports to work on time, logs into and out of both the Kronos and Patient Tracking systems upon the start and end of each shift

  • Consistently uses 2 patient identifiers when picking up patient for transport

  • Practices Hand washing technique for direct patient care

  • Identifies equipment malfunctions , informs supervisor when equipment needs to be removed from service

  • Makes sure equipment is clean before using for transport

  • Makes sure all necessary transport documents are transported and handed off at destination(chart, ticket to ride)

  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.

    2. Communicates effectively with internal and external customers with respect of differences in cultures, values, beliefs and ages, utilizing interpreters when needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

    Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Interacts with fellow workers in a way that promotes cooperative relationships with patients, staff, and others by anticipating needs, being respectful, caring and courteous

  • Adheres to administrative and departmental house rules, policies, procedures and objectives

  • Demonstrates flexibility in response to changes in responsibilities and work loads

  • Works cooperatively with nursing division and patient testing areas to provide safe and efficient patient transport

  • Adheres to safety, health and regulatory (e.g. TJC, OSHA, HIPAA) requirements

  • Must attend all mandatory education classes. Actively practices principles learned including but not limited to the following topics: Ensures the proper use of body mechanics, adherence to prescribed Infection Control and Patient Identification protocols. Adheres to universal precautions, patient rights, fire & general safety, disaster preparedness, hazard communications, and promotes continuous process improvement
