The primary objective is to obtain an appropriate, sufficient patient specimen that is labeled per laboratory policy in a professional manner with the least amount of discomfort to the patient. Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures on patients and identify and label specimens. Instruct patients on urine collection and timed testing. Processing of specimen: logging, numbering, centrifugation and computer entry. Must be able to work independently without immediate supervision. Must be able to draw all patients including infants and children. High school diploma or GED. Phlebotomy certification recommended but not required. Experience necessary. Good communication skills.
