BAMSI is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization founded in Brockton, Massachusetts, with a vision of driving change and creating equal opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental and behavioral health challenges. Brockton Area Multi-Services, Inc. (BAMSI) was incorporated on March 21, 1975 as South Shore Multi-Services Inc., under Chapter 180 of the Massachusetts General Laws, as a not-for-profit human service organization. On July 9, 1975, it changed its name to Brockton Area Multi-Services, Inc. It was formed for the development, coordination, and delivery of integrated human service programs, and according to its website, its mission is “to empower people and enrich their lives, through compassionate support and diverse services, one individual, one family a time.” BAMSI employees up to 2,000 people and operates adult, child, and family services, assisting approximately 30,000 individuals each year in Worcester, Middlesex, Norfolk, Bristol, and Plymouth Counties.

We are currently seeking a Nutritionist to provide nutrition services to WIC applicants and participants which includes high risk woman, infants and children. Women, Infants and Children(WIC) is a public health program that benefits low and moderate income families by providing services to pregnant and postpartum woman with infants and young children up to the age of 5 who are medically or nutritionally at risk.
Must have a bachelor's degree in public health nutrition, nutrition foods and nutrition, or nutrition education. One year's experience in clinical or community nutrition and a Master's degree and or/ licensure is preferred but not required. Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese is preferred.
General Statement of Duties: Provide routine nutrition services to WIC applicants and participants under the supervision of the Senior Nutritionist.
Complete feeding screenings and assessments as needed to diagnose, evaluate and treat children with a wide variety of confirmed or suspected disabilities.
Develop, write and implement IFSP’s for infants and young children.
Participate in multi-disciplinary team and provide consultation, training, and supervision to other staff members.
Provide center and home base services, group and individual treatment.
Provide training and support to families with nutrition concerns.
Complete reports, record progress and interpret reports to families and other staff members.
Actively participate in case conferences and in-service education trainings as required.
Choose appropriate training materials.
Perform duties to reflect reasonable safety standards. Universal/standard precautions must be utilized and training obtained in areas that constitute risk.
Perform duties in accordance with agency/program policies and procedures.
Perform other related work duties as needed or assigned by supervisor or designee.
EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor's Degree in public health, nutrition, foods and nutrition, or nutrition education. Masters Degree in public health nutrition, nutrition or food and nutrition; registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; or licensure with the MA Board of Registration of Dieticians and Nutritionists required.
EXPERIENCE:
One year experience in clinical or community nutrition desired.
Demonstrated leadership and decision making capabilities.
Good communication skills.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Sensitivity to the needs of the participant population.
Availability to work multiple WIC sites during program and clinical hours as needed.
Ability to speak Portuguese and/or Spanish desire
