The Senior Director will play a critical role in fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and client-focused service within the IT team. We are seeking a seasoned IT leader who can balance technical expertise with leadership and strategic planning in a complex healthcare IT environment.
Key Responsibilities will include:
Strategy & Planning
Establish credibility and provide leadership regarding IT systems with senior leaders, physicians, and clinicians. Will play a strong role in work intake and prioritization process as part of IT Governance.
Collaborate with the CIO, VP of IT Operations, and other leaders to support the overall IT strategic plan. This position is also accountable to Franciscan Children’s Hospital leadership, including the VP, Finance.
Act as a liaison between BCH affiliates and strategic industry partners regarding infrastructure, architecture, and systems.
Promote operational engagement for effective use of technology and support technology investments with affiliate partners.
Embrace Agile methodologies to harness partnerships between IT and operational partners to engage collaboratively and collectively.
Define service level agreements (SLAs) for affiliates and vendors in collaboration with IT and organizational leadership.
Acquisition & Deployment
Assess risks associated with technology-related investments and purchases, keeping key stakeholders informed.
Develop business case justifications for technology spending and initiatives.
Work with stakeholders to define and communicate technology requirements.
Review acquisition and maintenance contracts, pursue master agreements, and communicate organizational policies and standards for technology implementation.
Oversee the selection, acquisition, development, and installation of technology for the affiliate’s scope of work.
Operational Management
Serve as the primary contact for affiliate relationships, including troubleshooting technology issues.
Develop an IT structure for managing infrastructure and applications for affiliates.
Participate in quality and service improvement teams and represent the department in outreach efforts.
Stay up-to-date on industry trends and emerging technologies to anticipate new processes and system changes.
Resolve technical problems creatively and cost-effectively.
Manage the affiliate’s annual IT operating and capital budgets for purchasing, staffing, and operations.
Supervise staff recruitment, development, and retention, and oversee technical training and skill development.
Monitor service delivery through SLAs and ensure optimal system, program, and equipment performance.
To qualify, you must have:
BA degree and a minimum of 14 years of experience in IT, with 7 years in a management capacity for a large, complex healthcare organization.
Strong management and customer service skills, well-developed written and oral communication/presentation skills, and the ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization.
Experience with large-scale, complex projects involving strategic goals and tactical tasks.
Knowledge of process management, organizational analysis, and implementing information systems in healthcare.
Extensive knowledge of technology environments (telecommunications, networks, servers, etc.) and enterprise software applications, including Epic, PACS, M365, ERP solutions, etc.
Experience with strategic technology planning, execution, and policy development.
Ability to align department goals with IT capabilities and apply judgment for informed decision-making.
