Reports to: Assistant Project Director - Facilities

Terms: This position requires flexibility that includes frequently working evenings and some weekends

Location: Campbell Resource Center 1216 Dorchester Ave, Boston, MA

Sr. Project Manager:

  • The main focus is on working with external partners on Facility-based and related projects for coordination and communication.

  • Work to enter and assess the work on FCA for the Facilities team

  • Communicate with schools on Asset Essentials requests and feasibility.

  • Will work as data and construction-based project manager on reviewing & creating plans and documents and reporting.

    Manage Various Capital Improvement and Programmatic renovation projects, including large & small scale space reconfigurations, modernizations and upgrades. Work with Architects to develop space upgrades and renovations in conjunction with systems upgrades (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry etc.) Develop Capital Upgrades Planning for various space upgrades.Work with Public Facilities Department on similar project scopes as BPS Facilities liaison.

    The Senior Project Manager will coordinate and shepherd across all aspects of facilities based work. This person will collaborate directly with a variety of members of the Facilities and School leadership. The Senior Project Manager will help ensure BPS is able to equitably and effectively serve every student, helping to shape the future of the district and the City of Boston.

    Job Responsibilities: Supporting this team and this project could include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Project management: ensuring multiple projects within Facilities and BPS partners plan to have a clear project plan, keeping track of key deadlines and performance, aligning stakeholders to that plan, providing any and all administrative tasks and delivering successfully according to that plan.

  • Group Facilitation: develops the agenda for meetings. Drives groups to decisions. Effectively manages up across a set of senior leaders to ensure work progress and that the group meets project deadlines and goals.

  • Communication: creating materials and briefs to communicate internally and externally about the work of the plan. Present to various internal stakeholders, and as needed external partners and stakeholders.

  • Topic deep-dives: as needed, being involved in the implementation of a specific initiative under the plan; for instance, helping to implement the proposed facilities master plan or developing a better understanding of the implications of various aspects of it.

  • General support: perform any other duties as assigned by the Assistant Project Director of Facilities, Facilities Leadership team, including the Office of the Chief of Operations, and the Deputy Chief of Operations.

  • Analysis: performing analysis and assessment to inform the direction of the plan (could include operational, financial, enrollment, or academic data).

  • Coordination of significant construction and facilities related projects: Responsible for the oversight and coordination of projects. Coordinating design with specification writing in preparation for public bids Maintaining relationships with all contractors working with the Boston Public Schools Facilities Management Department

  • Assessing school building needs and executing all necessary reports and filings: Prepares technical reports and analyses as requested. Visits school buildings to determine extent of building problems and submits recommendation to department engineers and Project Director and/or Assistant Director.

  • Strategize on solutions for project needs based on (FCA) Facilities Condition Assessment. Including but not limited to cost estimation, budget forecast and clear work scope creation.

    Qualifications - Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree required

  • 5+ years experience in a project management role including managing and coordinating senior leaders in the organization

  • Ability to successfully navigate within varying degrees of ambiguity in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, particularly in creating easy-to-interpret, actionable reports, presentations, and findings

  • Mastery of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Power Point, Word). Experience with project management templates or relevant software preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to advise and negotiate comfortably with individuals at all levels.

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills including the ability to prioritize competing demands

  • Successful experience working in a team-oriented environment; experience interacting with multiple internal/external stakeholder groups

  • Demonstrated experience creating and evaluating quantitative and qualitative reports and models.

  • Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment

  • Ability to work independently entailing a high degree of responsibility, discretion and confidentiality;

  • Capacity to identify and meet high-impact benchmarks within a long-ranging strategy; Qualifications - Preferred:

  • Experience in a school district or other K12 public educational setting preferred Qualifications - Preferred:
