Where will we ship the next couch we sell and how much will it cost to get it there? What are the drivers of customer returns? Which of the new products launched on our site are best positioned to take off and become best sellers? How different will this picture look in the future?
Profitability and Forecasting Algorithms answers these questions and others like them. We vend cost, demand, and profit estimates globally to ensure profit-aware decision-making across the company in systems such as pricing, sort, and marketing. Our broad scope comes with regular executive visibility and the opportunity to influence critical business strategy at Wayfair.
We are looking for a highly motivated and solution-oriented Product Manager to steer the product vision and roadmap for this team. We focus on maximizing the business impact of our machine learning models through experimentation and post-hoc model evaluation. We elevate our models and their outputs through analytics products to power company-wide decision making. We are a high performing team of engineers, machine learning engineers/data scientists/economists, and product managers.
What You'll Do:
Develop and execute a multi-year roadmap for machine learning and economics products across a suite of cost, margin, and inventory predictive algorithms
Define detailed technical product features and establish delivery timelines
Conduct in-depth analysis of customer and product behavior and share learnings with senior executives to drive pricing strategies and guide product development
Establish and monitor key metrics for pricing and cost estimation, identifying trends and driving improvements
Develop a validation framework for deploying and measuring the impact of multiple machine learning models
Collaborate with engineering, machine learning science, economics, data science analytics, and other tech teams to define system architecture and science vision
Serve as a thought partner to science, engineering, and senior business leaders, communicating insights and recommendations
Act as a subject matter expert to non-technical stakeholders and leadership
What You'll Need:
Preferred: Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, Analytics, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field, and five years of experience in data science product management building software products or infrastructure at scale with a focus on machine learning and analysis of large data sets.
Required: Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, Analytics, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field, and five years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in data science product management building software products or infrastructure at scale with a focus on machine learning and analysis of large data sets.
Experience in the following areas:
Identifying operational process improvement opportunities and driving improvements in people, process, and technology
Creating strategic roadmaps for growth and managing implementation against deadlines and milestones
Developing applied machine learning systems for various business use cases
Creating executive-level communications for a varied stakeholder base
Collaborating with cross-functional teams of engineers, data scientists, and other specialists
Developing and performing experimental design and hypothesis testing, including A/B testing and multivariate testing (MVT)
This is a hybrid position based in Boston, MA. Employees are required to be in the office Tuesday-Thursday.
