Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's newly established Breast Immunology Laboratory is part of an initiative to be the preeminent breast tumor immunology/immunotherapy program in the country. This laboratory will bridge the clinical breast oncology program with the basic and translational breast cancer immunology laboratory efforts at Dana-Farber under the supervision of the new Director of the Breast Immuno-Oncology Program, Elizabeth Mittendorf, MD, PhD and the new Director of the Breast Immunology Laboratory, Jennifer Guerriero, PhD. The laboratory will have a high priority on understanding resistance to T-cell immunotherapy, identification of novel immunotherapy targets, linking pre-clinical work to clinical trials, correlating clinical trial outcomes with changes in the tumor microenvironment and analyzing untreated tumors to inform pre-clinical work. Drs. Mittendorf and Guerriero are seeking an exceptional senior/lead research technician to assist in research studying the breast tumor microenvironment. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with postdoctoral or medical fellows as well as potentially lead independent projects and may coordinate the activities and supervise other technicians. Specific studies include the development and validation of short term culture systems using murine or patient derived tumors, extensive analysis of the breast tumor microenvironment and in vivo experiments to study mechanisms of response to T cell immunotherapy to guide the development of combination therapies. Working with animal models is required. The successful candidate will also oversee daily activities in the laboratory including ordering and managing the laboratory space, as well as oversee and process clinical trial samples.
The successful candidate must have a BA, BS, or MS degree and be highly motivated. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience working in a laboratory including experience with biospecimen processing or animal research. We are looking for candidates with a minimum of two years of availability. This position is an exciting opportunity to work in a breast cancer research laboratory that is focused on rapidly improving breast cancer treatment. It is expected that a successful applicant will be an author on scientific publications.
Schedule: Full time, flexible. The hours of this position will vary to meet deadlines in order to complete experiments and achieve project goals in a timely fashion.
