This Research Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Performing a variety of routine and specialized laboratory experimental specimen preparations and experimental procedures for the purpose of research, while under immediate supervision.

  • Assisting in the use of specialized laboratory equipment and analysis of data generated by this equipment.

  • Developing protocols and performing experiments to model cardiac diseases with induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) models.

  • Performing differentiation protocols in small volume stirred bioreactors for cardiomyocyte production.

  • Reprograming patient samples to iPSCs and perform relevant quality control experiments.

  • Maintaining database of iPSC lines and interface with other lab members to ensure specimen quality and data integrity.

  • Optimizing protocols for differentiation into relevant cell types.

  • Performing genome editing to enhance relevance of iPSC disease models.

  • Routine molecular biology tasks including cloning and PCR.

  • Collaborating closely with bioengineers to develop novel micro-physiologic systems for human disease modeling

  • Maintaining excellent records of results and methodologies as well assisting in compiling and analyzing data.

    In order to qualify, you must have:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Analytical skills to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles.

  • The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
