  • Managing clinical and operational aspects of the BCH Cardiovascular Surgery Clinical Research Database (BCH-CVS-CRD) through data abstraction from preexisting internal data sources, entry of additional project specific data, validation, quality improvement, and creation of new modules for new research projects.

  • Managing clinical and operational aspects of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons Congenital Heart Surgery Database (STS-CHSD) through data abstraction, validation, quality improvement, and required data submissions to the STS-CHSD.

  • Executing data cleanup and STS-CHSD harvest reviews on a scheduled basis.

  • Implementing patient follow up and appropriately documenting in databases.

  • Participating in required weekly meetings including every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday morning.

  • Maintaining updates from the STS-CHSD Database and participating in the development of internal protocols.

  • Maintaining a manual of Standard Operating Procedures and definitions for data points related to internal databases for both clinical and research database.

  • Attending the annual STS conference to ensure competency in all facets of the Congenital Heart Surgery Database.

  • Identifying trends, initiating reviews and assisting with the coordination of quality improvement initiatives within the Cardiovascular Program.

  • Act as an educational resource for other members of the Cardiovascular Quality Improvement team.

    To qualify, you must have:

  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing

  • A minimum of five years of related work experience including Congenital Cardiac Critical Care experience

  • Knowledge of Congenital Cardiothoracic Surgery procedures

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel

  • Experience with data analysis and related software preferred

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and appropriate interpersonal skills

  • MA license as an RN
