Reporting directly to the Program Director of the Biomedical Laboratory & Clinical Sciences (BLCS) Program, this position will be responsible for overseeing and organizing the everyday activities of the programs teaching laboratories and core laboratory course offerings. He/she will be responsible for assisting the Program Director in developing and implementing a robust laboratory science curriculum. The Program & Laboratory Manager will also serve as a resource and mentor to BLCS undergraduates seeking to advance their laboratory skill in the biomedical research field.

The ideal candidate strongly values and appreciates the role of academic rigor and hands-on laboratory research experience in the training of undergraduate students in the biomedical sciences. The successful candidate will have extensive research experience, a strong teaching background, excellent leadership and managerial skills, judgment, integrity, flexibility, and creativity, as well as a positive and collaborative attitude.

Masters Degree, PhD preferred; Three to five years relevant experience; Broad knowledge of biomedical research disciplines and ability to communicate effectively with undergraduate students about scientific research; Professionalism, strong administrative skills and attention to detail; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Enthusiasm for teaching and creating educational curriculum for science majors; Efficiency in time management, organization, accuracy, especially in preparing and verifying important documents. Some evening hours are necessary. A cover letter is required. Responsibilities and Duties: Manage BSL2 teaching laboratories Assist in coordinating research practicum (externship) projects/activities Teach basic science laboratory courses Plan laboratory activities in basic research & diagnostic laboratory techniques Assist with and supervise various research projects. Maintain inventory of laboratory equipment and tools. Stay current with the latest developments in lab techniques and technologies. Skill Requirements: Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Advanced communication skills to clearly and effectively communicate information to students and faculty. Strong analytical and problem solving skills to review and analyze complex information are desired. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and be able to adjust to individual needs of students, staff, and faculty. Must be familiar with evaluating the program outcome measurements and managements of the data.
