Grant Thornton Product Lead - Tax in Boston, Massachusetts

Grant Thornton is seeking a Product Lead - Tax (Senior Director) to join the team. Approved office locations can be found below.

Job Description:

As the Product Lead – Tax, reporting into the Chief Product Officer, you will oversee the development and management of our product portfolio of our Tax practice, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market demands. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, technical skills and a deep understanding of product management principles. You will lead a team of product managers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and deliver value through our products.

Your Day-to-Day May Include:

  • Collaborate across the Tax practice and the Technology organization to develop a clear product vision and strategy that aligns with the firm’s goals and market needs for the Tax practice.

  • Develop product roadmaps based on the strategy that are aligned with the needs of our Tax practice, and regularly communicate and collaborate on the execution of those roadmaps.

  • Lead and mentor a team of product managers, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement.

  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and inform product development.

  • Work closely within the CTO, CIO and others across the technology organization, as well as with leadership of the Tax practice and other Tax professionals to ensure cohesive product development and delivery.

  • Manage the entire product lifecycle from ideation to launch, ensuring timely and successful product releases.

  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and inform future strategies.

  • Leverage customer feedback and data to drive product improvements and ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Oversee the allocation of product investments within the Tax product team, ensuring optimal resource distribution and ROI.

  • Build strong relationships with Tax leaders, Technology leaders as well as leaders from key corporate functions including Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, Finance, HR, and Operations to ensure product initiatives meet enterprise requirements while driving business value.

  • Participate in industry forums and maintain relationships with product leaders at peer firms to stay current with industry trends and best practices.

  • Oversee talent acquisition and development strategies for the product team within the Tax product team.

You Have the Following Technical Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree from a top-tier institution strongly preferred.

  • At least 10 years of experience in product management, with a proven track record of delivering innovative products, successful product launches and team leadership.

  • Significant Experience in Big 4 or other major professional services firms with deep understanding of the product or technology solution needs of a large Tax practice.

  • At least 10 years of experience using modern technology frameworks and tools to manage and build products, including tools for product management, road mapping, discovery, prioritization, analytics & user insights, research, engineering, etc.

  • Deep understanding of AI and automation technologies and their application in professional services and the Tax practice specifically, both from a custom build perspective as well as any off-the-shelf solutions.

  • Proven ability to lead and mentor large, distributed teams across multiple disciplines and geographies.

  • Outstanding executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to influence C-suite stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of the professional services’ regulatory environment and implications for internal product development. In-depth knowledge of the industry and its unique challenges and opportunities.

  • Deep understanding of customer needs and the ability to leverage customer insights to drive product improvements.

  • Professional certifications in relevant areas (e.g. CPA, PMP, Agile) highly valued

  • Ability to travel as needed (25%).

The base salary range for this position in the firm’s Appleton, WI, Atlanta, GA, Baltimore, MD, Charlotte, NC, Chicago, IL, Cincinnati, OH, Cleveland, OH, Columbia, SC, Dallas, TX, Denver, CO, Downers Grove, IL, Fort Lauderdale, FL, Hartford, CT, Houston, TX, Jacksonville, FL, Kansas City, MO, Miami, FL, Milwaukee, WI, Minneapolis, MN, Oklahoma City, OK, Orlando, FL, Philadelphia, PA, Phoenix, AZ, Pittsburgh, PA, Portland, OR, Raleigh, NC, Reno, NV, Salt Lake City, UT, Southfield, MI, St. Louis, MO, Tampa, FL, Tulsa, OK, and Wichita, KS offices only is between $206,300 and $343,800 per year.

The base salary range for this position in the firm’s Washington, DC, Bellevue, WA, Boston, CA, Iselin, NJ, Arlington, VA, Melville, NY, Los Angeles, CA, Newport Beach, CA San Diego, CA, and New York, NY offices only is between $222,800 and $371,300 per year.

The base salary range for this position in the firm’s San Francisco, CA and San Jose, CA offices only is between $237,200 and $395,400.
