The Primate Animal Research Technician will be responsible for:
Daily observation
Research medication dosing
Biological sampling (blood draws)
Assisting with bone marrow aspiration, CSF collection, and simple biopsies
Supporting Surgical and post-operative, and maintaining tether systems
Daily communication with the team regarding animal status and project progress
Maintaining research and medical records
Welfare and compliance monitoring
To qualify, you must have:
A minimum of high school level of education is required. An associate's degree in Biological or animal sciences is preferred.
A minimum of three years of experience working with animals in a research or clinical setting is required.
Experience with nonhuman primate models.
Technical/sampling procedures in nonhuman primates or other large animals.
Experience with surgical assistance.
Experience with inhalant and injectable anesthesia induction and monitoring.
Familiarity with large animal protocols, regulations, and ability to comply with IACUC requirements.
Able to provide for and ensure the welfare of animals under the care of this position, working effectively with veterinary and animal care staff.
Certification with The American Association for Laboratory Animal Science at ALAT or LAT level preferred.
CVT/RVT/LVT licensure is preferred.
