The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician II is responsible for providing technical support under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The Level II technician works primarily in the retail outpatient pharmacy, but may also support any other satellite location. Technician’s duties include preparing oral take home medications, manufacturing and compounding pharmaceutical products, inventory management, utilizing the various equipment and technology available in the pharmacy, performing drop-off and pick-up window duties, and performing various quality control tasks as assigned. In addition, the level II technician will participate in training and orientation of new technicians and pharmacy students.
Prepares All Medications accurately
Works efficiently, able to maintain a steady workflow
Assembles medications and materials in a neat and organized manner
Maintains adequate levels of stock medications and materials for assigned work area
Participates in inventory management
Participates in training and orientation of new pharmacy technicians to technology
Identify when technology is not working properly and triage as appropriate
Participate in quality control including cleans pharmacy hood and related areas as required by policy and procedure
High School Graduate or currently enrolled in an accredited entry level degree program for pharmacy or related field
Mass Board of Pharmacy Registration as a pharmacy technician
National Pharmacy Technician Certification required.
Two to five years of pharmacy technician experience with at least one year of Outpatient/retail experience.
