Job Summary: The Nurse Manager serves as a member of the program?s management team. S/he is responsible for managing the medical/nursing functions of the program in accordance to regulations and certification standards. The Nurse Manager leads the nursing staff and coordinates with direct care staff to support the daily physical and health care needs of patients in the program. The Nurse Manager supports the Bay Cove and program mission through their leadership and direction in ensuring the health and safety and quality care for patients served. This is an exempt position. Supervisory Responsibilities: Recruits, interviews and arranges the hiring of all nursing staff Completes timely performance evaluations on all nurses Oversees monthly nurse schedule Oversees orientation and in-service training of all nursing staff Essential Functions of Position: Orders and maintain supplies of all controlled drugs and other medical supplies Supervises all staff nurses Conducts monthly nursing meetings Conducts annual performance evaluations for all nurses Census Management Collaborates with Bay Cove Human Resource Dept. in the advertising and hiring for open positions as well as in giving corrective actions to and termination of staff Oversees monthly nursing schedules If staffing requires, will be responsible to perform duties of the charge nurse, admissions nurse, or staff nurse on any shift Facilitates clinical rounds Maintains a collaborative relationship with the Medical Director, Psychiatric Consultant, and the Nurse Practitioner Participates in all weekly management team meetings and planning retreats On call responsibilities as shared in a fair manner by all unit management staff Participates in the unit orientation of new staff Participates in the training of unit staff regarding changes and updates of medical aspects of substance use, detoxification, and mental illness as they might affect patients Oversees the nurses? responsibilities in utilization review and work collaboratively with the Billing Specialist and insurance reviewers in utilization review procedures Understands and follow DEA and all state and federal regulations regarding the use of controlled substances in the program Be available for DEA representatives during site visits and other licensing or accreditation bodies Assists in the development and maintenance of a budget for pharmaceutical and medical supplies for the unit Acts as an administrative resource for other unit supervisors in the absence of the Program Director Other duties as required by Program Director Requirements for the Position Massachusetts registration and license in nursing Five years acute care experience Two years supervisory experience Prior substance use disorder and/or mental health experience required Prior experience with homeless population preferred Prior dual diagnosis experience preferred A COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement of the position. One COVID-19 shot is acceptable, contingent on the individual receiving the second shot within the allotted time frame.
