Commonwealth Care Alliance Manager, Behavioral Health - ACO Programs (PMHNP/LiCSW) in Boston, Massachusetts

The Manager, Behavioral Health -- ACO Programs, plays an integral role in the success of the ACO Program Partnerships for Commonwealth Care Alliance (CCA) through the direct management of the behavioral health staff as they work to ensure successful delivery of primary care and complex care management services to patients served. The Manager contributes to programmatic and strategic growth of the ACO Program(s) and represents this work internally and with external partners

What You'll Be Doing

  • Robust understanding of CCA's contractual obligations with each partner organization, as well as key performance indicators that define success.

  • Identification of strategic team needs to be successful within the contract agreements.

  • Direct daily management of the behavioral health staff within the inter-professional ACO clinical team. This can include 1:1 meeting with staff, regular huddles, attendance at team huddles, reviews of productivity standards, whether quality of care and documentation standards are met, and constant knowledge of key performance indicator status, among other things.

  • Support the deployment of behavioral health staff in their day-to-day workload based on a members behavioral health need as they appear in the members care plan and are evaluated in initial and ongoing Assessments. Support the behavioral health team in prioritizing requests from Care Partners to address behavioral health needs.

  • Support the behavioral health team in assessing behavioral health needs and developing a plan of care for each patient served.

  • Reviews clinical documentation and records created by team members to ensure accuracy and timeliness of documentation.

  • Be an available resource and an active participant to support the clinical team/s and conduct home visits with clinical staff, as needed.

  • Acts as a liaison to develop a network of behavioral health community resources focused on the care and needs of CCA patients.

  • Recruits behavioral health staff for the ACO Programs per required need in collaboration with other clinical leaders.

  • Maintains and regularly reviews the orientation program and mentorship of behavioral health staff in collaboration with other leaders.

  • Routine program evaluation and support that includes chart reviews, technical support, logistical needs, and clinical support.

  • Regularly providing individual and team feedback based on data, key performance, and quality reviews.

  • Fair and equal management of every team member with the goal of success in the Senior Behavioral Health staff role. May leverage CCAs Human Resources processes when necessary.

  • Facilitates in-person and remote inter-professional meetings that focus on clinical performance, operations, strategy, and program development.

  • Work cross-functionally within the organization to develop and document effective and efficient workflows.

  • Leverages available data and translates this for inter-operability within the ACO teams across the organization.

  • Partners with, mentors, and manages the other ACO management across CCA. This includes but is not limited to 1:1 meeting, management performance reviews, feedback, and professional development discussions.

  • Ability to rapidly adjust strategy to meet team needs.

  • Partners with senior leadership regarding strategic model approaches, programmatic strategy, and implementation practices.

  • Participates in regular meetings with CCA ACO teams, CCA senior leadership and with CCAs external partners.

  • Participates in cross-organizational working groups to continuously improve practice.

  • Participates in CCA Quality Improvement efforts.

  • Participates in committees and workgroups that promote clinical excellence and help to advance CCA's mission and business objectives.

  • Actively participates in the evaluation of own performance and progress.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • The Manager, Behavioral Health -- ACO Programs oversees all of CCA's behavioral health staff supporting the inter-professional, cross-organizations ACO teams

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with ability to make field visits and frequent travel for meetings across CCAs geography.

  • Hybrid Role with expectations to regularly travel to clinic and administrative locations throughout the state for meetings as well as conduct field visits with staff.

  • Valid driver's license.

What We're Looking For

Education Required:

  • Master's Degree

Licensing Required:

  • LiCSW, LMHC, PsyD, PMHNP is mandatory with licensure in good standing in Massachusetts

Licensing Desired:

  • PMHNP plus LiCSW/LMHC/PsyD preferred

Experience Required:

  • 5+ years of licensed experience

  • 4+ years of combined licensed clinical and management experience with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, substance use disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder

  • Experience working with members with significant complexity of medical, behavioral and social needs.

  • Experience with electronic medical records.

Experience Desired:

  • Management and disability experience preferred.

  • EPIC, eCW strongly preferred.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically PowerPoint and Excel strongly preferred

  • Proven skills, knowledge base, and judgment necessary for independent clinical decision making.

  • Ability to function effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Effective oral and written skills.

  • Effective teaching and managerial skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated by the ability to interact professionally with culturally and educationally diverse staff and members.

  • Ability to teach, mentor and coach.

  • Ability to quickly shift gears and move in a new direction without clear guidance.

  • Able to support teams with utilization of telehealth technologies (video, chat, etc.), when appropriate, as an approved modality for a variety of clinical care and care management services.

  • Microsoft Office, Excel, required.

  • Bilingual Spanish, Portuguese strongly preferred
