Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston Lead Ophthalmic Technician in Boston, Massachusetts

The Lead Technician oversees the day to day flow of the clinical services for satellite Physicians and their clinical staff. As an extension of the scope of practice of the Clinical Services Department, the lead satellite technician is responsible for creating weekly technician schedules, staffing recommendations, and maintaining inventory and equipment for the location they are responsible for. The lead satellite technician will work primarily at our Framingham location listed but may be required travel to other offices if needed.

Performance Requirements:

Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision making to achieve organizational objectives. Knowledge of ophthalmic clinical practices, materials and procedures. Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing to diverse populations. Knowledge of the principles and practice of employee development sufficient to ensure organizational productivity.

Education and Experience:

  • COA / COT licensing preferred

  • Three to five years of diverse Clinical Ophthalmic experience required.

    Example of Duties:

  • Evaluates the daily schedule and utilization of MD/OD clinical exam lanes and makes recommendations to the Director of Clinical Services.

  • Reviews Clinical Supervisor’s weekly clinical staff schedule and makes recommendations to ensure highest level of utilization and productivity.

  • Works as a clinical technician at a senior level.

  • Assists the Training Assistant with technician development and training.

  • Maintains the clinical inventory of supplies and equipment so that smooth work flow is maintained.
