The IR Technologist will:
Review and evaluate requisitions for IR procedures.
Confirm procedure specific information with IR physician as well as the necessary imaging equipment, software programs, therapeutic equipment and supplies.
Select appropriate equipment and technical factors to optimize image quality and reduce patient radiation exposure. (ALARA)
Comply with aseptic techniques in specimen collection and handling.
Prepare procedure tray, imaging parameters, therapeutic equipment and supplies per physician protocol.
Be responsible for patient positioning, sterile prep and draping.
Circulate room during procedures to assist with retrieving and opening surgical items and equipment.
Perform the role of physician second scrub if required.
Follow Departmental QC/Exam Data Integrity Workflow Expectations
Practice High Reliability Communication techniques.
Respond to the uniqueness and clinical condition of the patient.
Create a supportive environment for the patient and the family.
To qualify, you must have:
Associates degree in Allied Health or Science is required.
1 year of experience working as a Radiographer is required.
MA Radiological Technologist license is required.
Registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
Knowledge of Radiologic safety, cleanliness and Infection control policies and regulations.
Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique, specimen collection and handling.
Proficient in use of advanced imaging and therapeutic equipment i.e., 3D rotational angiography, Cone beam CT, advanced imaging workstation post processing, lasers, RF ablation and thrombolysis units.
