This Environmental Health & Safety Risk Manager will be responsible for:
Reporting to the Director, EH&S, leading institutional safety and health improvement activities and primarily focusing to lead the institutional Employee Injury Reduction Program with a goal of reducing our TRIR and DART to the lowest possible rate.
Specializing in tracking and trending employee injury data, managing injury investigations (apparent cause, common cause, root cause analysis), defining targeted interventions, establishing timelines for successful implementation and working with key internal stakeholders to sustain program enhancements.
Managing the review of adverse employee safety & health events with clinical, supporting and researching teams.
Working with other professionals and hospital leaders to develop processes and systems to reduce enterprise risks for employee injuries and illnesses.
To qualify, you must have:
The knowledge of recognized safety system methods, event reporting criteria, loss prevention strategies and current professional and industry trends/practices typically acquired through a Master of Science degree in Human Factors/Ergonomics Engineering, Process Safety/Quality Engineer or a closely related scientific field and a minimum of 10 years of related experience.. Doctoral degree in a closely related field is preferred
Experience with prevention through design (PtD), cause analysis, reliability science, exposure assessment, and occupational epidemiology in a healthcare setting is highly desirable.
Strong analytical skills needed to resolve highly complex problems utilizing clinical, scientific and technical principles, theories and concepts are required, in addition to in-depth knowledge of data sources within the context of epidemiologic theory and risk management practices is required.
Demonstrated abilities to write and present frequent written and verbal reports, synthesis of information, and presentation of findings in a timely manner to meet regulatory reporting timeframes.
Excellent proficiency in statistical data analysis programming such as SAS, SigmaXL and SPSS is required. –Experience with database software such as Access or Share point and project and diagramming software such as MS Project and Visio is preferred.
The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations., and to be able to work with diverse internal and external constituencies which includes facilitating clinical and support service teams, managing conflict resolution and manage change.
Certification eligible or credentialed as a: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Ergonomics Professional (CEP) or Associate Risk Manager (ARM).
