Boston University DENTAL ASSISTANT, School of Dental Medicine, Dental Health Center in BOSTON, Massachusetts
The Dental Assistant provides clinical support by assisting the dentist in various dental procedures, exposing radiographs, taking impressions, fabricating and cementing temporary crowns, ensuring optimal patient comfort, sterilizing instruments, practicing infection control and OSHA standards in the operatory prior, during and after said procedures. Ensures assigned operatories are cleaned and disinfected.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Collect patient data be reviewing medical history, taking blood pressure and pulse, and charting clinical findings as directed by the dentist
Contacts patients as needed and reviews schedules for optimal utilizations
Reviews and enters treatment plans
Organizes lab cases by monitoring completion dates
Ensures each assigned operatory is set-up and ready prior to seeing each patient
Provides patient education by giving pre and post operative instructions including oral hygiene instructions
May be responsible for the ordering supplies as needed
